• Prepare the bag: Before washing, unzip any compartments, shake out dirt, and remove any detachable parts or decorative items. You can also fasten any zippers, buttons, or hooks. 
• Wash the bag: Use a normal cycle with warm or cool water and the correct amount of all-purpose or heavy-duty detergent. You can also use liquid or pod detergent for better cleaning. Wash the bag with similar colors and fabrics, and place it in a mesh bag or pillowcase for protection. 
• Dry the bag: Tumble dry on low heat, or hang it out in the sun until it's completely dry. Avoid over-drying, which can cause shrinkage. You can also use steam or a moderate heat setting to press out wrinkles.
